As part of its welfare reform agenda, the government proposes to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with Personal Independence Payments (PIP) by April 2013. As part of its ongoing consultation on , the government is presently consulting (until 30 April 2012) on a second draft of the assessment criteria for PIP.
Arthritis Care has already expressed a number of concerns around the proposals, reflecting the personal testimonies related to us by many people with arthritis. These concerns have been echoed by many other disability charities.
We will continue to make our views and concerns known to government, and we will therefore be making a full response to this latest consultation.
Make your views known
If you are currently receiving DLA or may be affected by changes to the assessment criteria for DLA, please take some time to read through the consultation document and respond to government directly, in writing or by email.
If you are responding to the consultation, please share your response with us, as this will help inform Arthritis Care's own response to government. Please send your response - or your key points if submitting a lengthy response - to Campaigns@arthritiscare.org.uk , ideally before the end of March 2012.
You may also find it useful to have a look at some of the background information on the proposals, including an FAQ sheet.
